Wilcomb was a very qualified person. He passed away on February 1, 1997. He got his Ph.D. in the History of American Civilization at Harvard University. afterwards Harvard, he taught history for three years at the College of William and Mary. He then joined the Smithsonian Institution as Curator in the division of political history. He had a career of research, publication, lecturing, and article of faith on diverse topics.
